This is how Apple starts to rot: by becoming even more lawsuity than they already are.
WARSAW (Reuters) - Apple, fresh from a patent victory against South Korean rival Samsung, has turned its sights on a smaller target - Polish online grocery website A.pl.
The Polish patent office said on Tuesday the U.S. maker of the iPad, iPhone and iPod had filed a complaint, accusing the website of copying one of Apple’s icons to its logo and riding its coattails to win customers.
“Apple brand is widely recognized and the company says that A.pl, by using the name that sounds similar, is using Apple’s reputation,” patent office spokesman Adam Taukert said.
Americans love an underdog and hate a bully. Apple has always been a bully in the courts, but it’s reaching levels that I just don’t want to support or be associated with.
I was already disinterested in the iPad Mini (I’d rather have a 7” Windows 8 tablet that’ll run sabznbd & utorrent), but now, between the Springboard feeling old, the tiny screen size, banning political cartoons, snarky Apple pundits, every idiot under the sun walking around with an iDevice, walled-garden services, tech support policies that allow hackers to delete your kids’ photos, the Samsung case patent abuses, and the Crush the Little Guy lawsuits, I’m TOTALLY off buying Apple devices.
Never trust a company that wants you fully immersed in THEIR walled-off, non-upgradable user experience.
